DPF Derate Repair Cost: What Drives the Price
The cost of a DPF derate repair depends on the diagnosis. A derate can come from something as simple as a failed sensor or a regen that needs to be run, or from a clogged filter or an upstream engine problem, and those jobs are very different. We do not guess a price over the internet: call (240) 780-8691 with the truck and fault codes and dispatch will work toward a quote for your situation, 24/7.
Why we do not list a flat price
A derate is a symptom, not a single repair. The truck is limiting power or speed because the engine computer sees a problem with the aftertreatment system or something that feeds it. Until the cause is found, any single number would be a guess, and you could end up paying for the wrong part.
That is why the cost of a DPF derate repair depends on the diagnosis. Diagnosis comes first, then the repair, then a quote or estimate for what the truck actually needs.
What drives the cost of a DPF derate repair
These are the main factors that move a job from small to large:
- The root cause. A sensor or wiring fault, a regen that will not complete, a filter that is loaded with soot or ash, a failed upstream component, or a DEF/SCR fault all call for different work.
- Whether a forced regen or cleaning is enough. Some trucks only need a service-initiated regen once the cause is addressed. Others need the filter serviced or replaced.
- Parts. Sensors, injectors, EGR or turbo components, and aftertreatment parts vary widely by engine and by what failed.
- Labor and time. Access, how long diagnosis takes, and whether the truck can be repaired where it sits.
- Where the work happens. Roadside, at your yard, or at our Randallstown shop if the truck cannot be finished on site.
- Related damage. A filter that keeps loading usually has a reason. If an upstream problem caused it, fixing only the filter will not hold.
What to have ready when you call for a quote
The more dispatch knows, the faster we can get you moving toward a quote:
- Truck make, model, year, and engine, if you know it
- Exact location, or the yard address
- What the dash is showing: DPF lamp, check-engine lamp, DEF warning, or a derate message
- Any fault codes you have already pulled
- Whether the truck still moves, is limited in power or speed, or will not start
We repair and restore emissions systems
We repair and restore proper emissions systems on commercial diesel trucks, and that is how every quote is built. We do not do emissions deletes or delete tuning, and we do not remove, bypass, or disable DPF, DEF, or SCR components. See our full DPF derate repair service for how a mobile repair works.
DPF derate repair cost FAQ
How much does a DPF derate repair cost?
It depends on the diagnosis. The cause of the derate, the parts involved, and where the work is done all change the cost. Call (240) 780-8691 with the truck and fault codes and dispatch will work toward a quote.
Can you give a price over the phone?
We can start from the truck, the symptoms, and the codes you have. Because the cost depends on what is actually wrong, the firmest answer comes after diagnosis.
Does the cost change if the repair is roadside versus at a yard?
The location of the work is one of the factors. Our mobile diesel mechanic works at the roadside, at your yard, or at a job site, and dispatch can explain how that applies to your truck.
Will you quote a delete instead of a repair?
No. We repair and restore proper emissions systems. We do not do emissions deletes or delete tuning.
What if the truck cannot be repaired on site?
The same dispatcher can bring the truck to our Randallstown shop or send heavy-duty towing and recovery equipment. Shop diesel repair is Randallstown only, at 9325 Liberty Rd.
Do you work on cars or pickups?
No. We service commercial diesel trucks only, not passenger-car auto repair.
