I-70 from the Baltimore Beltway to Frederick

I-70 is the main east-west freight route in Maryland. It starts at the Baltimore Beltway in Woodlawn and crosses Howard County and a corner of Carroll County on its way to Frederick, Hagerstown, and the west. Priority Towing and Recovery covers the eastern end with heavy duty towing, mobile diesel repair, and equipment hauling, 24/7. Call (240) 780-8691.

Reading the road west from the beltway, these exits help dispatch find you:

  • I-695 (Exit 91) — the Baltimore Beltway interchange at Woodlawn. See I-695.
  • US-29 (Exit 87) — Columbia Pike, toward Ellicott City and Columbia. See mobile diesel in Columbia.
  • US-40 split (Exit 82) — Baltimore National Pike heads to Ellicott City.
  • MD-32 (Exit 80) — West Friendship, Sykesville, and Columbia.
  • MD-97 (Exit 76) — Cooksville, and the road north to Westminster.
  • MD-94 (Exit 73) — Lisbon and Woodbine.
  • MD-27 (Exit 68) — Mount Airy, at the Carroll and Frederick County line.
  • MD-75 (Exit 62) and I-270 (Exit 53) — New Market, then Frederick.

The part that is Carroll County

I-70 touches Carroll County only briefly, near Mount Airy, but two Carroll County routes feed it. MD-97 runs from Cooksville up to Westminster, and MD-32 heads from West Friendship toward Sykesville and Eldersburg. For trucks coming off I-70 into Westminster, our office is at 1718 Old Liberty Rd; see Westminster.

At the eastern end, I-70 and the beltway are close to the Randallstown yard at 9325 Liberty Rd, which is the only Priority location that does shop diesel repair.

What we handle on I-70

Long grades, bridges over the Patapsco River, and a lot of through freight mean the usual problems: brakes, tires, overheating, DPF and DEF faults, and air-system leaks. A mobile diesel mechanic can often fix those at the roadside, and DPF derate repair and truck road service cover the details. Our in-house diesel techs use dealer-level diagnostics.

If it cannot be repaired safely, a heavy wrecker follows on the same ticket: semi truck towing in Maryland. Equipment moves are handled by RGN heavy haul and Landoll service; the heavy duty page lists the recovery side.

Priority accepts EFS, ComChek, and T-Check, with 47 reviews on PreferredMechanic. Quotes are free. If the truck is a hazard, call 911 first. Related: semi truck breakdown in Maryland: what to do.
